Still Britain’s most popular holiday resort, Blackpool has so much to offer. Blackpool bed and breakfast hotels still offer superb value-for-money accommodation: quality homemade dishes, close proximity to all amenities, friendly northern hospitality and your own key for those late nights
!
There is such a varied choice of where you stay. Blackpool hotels are in abundance encompassing a range of prices, views, and levels of luxury. There really is an option to meet anyone’s tastes. Many of the bigger hotels are situated right on the sea front, many having unrivalled sea views.
So what is it that made Blackpool what it is today? There are several reasons and you have to look into the history of the town to track its original beginnings, as well as seeing how it has changed with the times; the Blackpool bed and breakfast trade evolved from the need to accommodate vast numbers of working people, usually from the cotton mill Lancashire towns, taking their summer vacations. The new railway system that evolved in the 1850’s meant that large numbers of people could travel longer distances. Indeed, the first time the infamous Blackpool lights were switched on was back in 1879, and are still an annual attraction, 11 miles of them, occurring between August and November each year.
One of the plusses of accommodation in Blackpool is that wherever you stay you are usually just a few minutes walking distance from one of the town’s many attractions. The ‘golden mile’ takes you along the promenade which is littered with novelty shops, restaurants and those famous fish and chip shops. The pleasure beach is situated at the southern end of this famous walk, and the tower at the other. You have constant supply of attractions when stay in Blackpool hotels. You can visit the zoo, lounge on the beach, go bowling or just about anything else you would expect in a modern beach resort. My favourite pastime when I was a child was to ride the donkeys on the golden sands-must admit, the temptation to get on one is still there!
Staying in Blackpool hotels not only recalls fond memories of some great times, “the magic is still there,” says George Haslingden, who still visits every year.
