Six months ago, my friend Claire told me about bodytalk. New York City, which is where I had just moved, had taken a great effort to adjust to. I was from a small town, and though I was driven to accomplish all I had set out to do, it was tough getting used to New York. I went to see Claire's bodytalk practitioner for help with recurring panic attacks that were no doubt a result of my transition anxiety. One session in particular stands out, when an appointment coincided with a very intense, almost immobilizing panic attack. In my experience with bodytalk, Erin was always extremely communicative and approachable about the work she was doing. This empowered me in having a clear understanding of what we were doing, as well. By the end of the session, I was grounded and free of irrational anxiety and panic. From that day forward, I have always had a strong sense of the effectiveness of body talk. New York City become a much happier place for me as I continued with my sessions--regularly at first and then just on a need-only basis.
I've been living here in Manhattan for almost a year now, and I am still getting adjusted, but having a much easier time of it. BodyTalk has opened my eyes to a lot of things that have actually changed my life and the way I view just about everything. Ultimately, what I have learned is that physical, mental, and emotional health come first. You cannot be at your best in real life situations when you are not in a state of wellness, both in mind and body. Untangling and releasing those negative energy patterns that the body withholds is the best way to facilitate the bodymind's ability to heal. As you probably already know, in order to feel good and perform well in your external world--work, school, family, and life, your internal world--body and mind--must be functioning smoothly.
