Breaking Bingo Assumptions

By: stickystebee-16825

Everyone has a picture of a Bingo hall in their head. Old men and women sitting with hundreds of small cards in front of them, stamping frantically as a bored number caller shouts a letter and a number across the hot hall. Everyone is silent, except for the clicks of the stamps. Fortunately, this is an outdated view of a fun and exciting game that more and more young people are playing. These days Bingo halls are gaining popularity. More and more people are beginning to realize that Bingo can be an interesting way to pass some time and make some money. Most people assume that you buy a Bingo card and play a traditional game of Bingo. But that’s not the case at all. There are numerous games available. Traditional Bingo calls for a player to cover a row of spaces on their card; however, numerous other games exist. There are cover all games where every square needs a stamp. There are cover nine games and cover six games. There are bonus number games, where if a player covers the row and uses the “special” number he/she receives a money bonus.
Technology in Bingo has also changed. Traditionally, a player had a card or a book of cards and a stamp pen. The player had to listen extremely closely for the called letter and number. However, some Bingo halls now offer electronic books. These small machines do all the work for the player. He/she enters a code given to him by the cashier. This code is unique to a set of Bingo cards that are stored in the machine. The caller inputs the letter into a computer and number as they call it. The computer sends an electronic message to the machine, which automatically marks the cards in the machine. These machines eliminate any chance of human error. Players no longer have to worry about missing a called number. The machine will beep when a card is one number away from Bingo, so players are alerted when to pay closer attention. This adds to the social atmosphere at the Bingo hall. Players can converse with those around them without fear of losing their one chance at winning. Of course, these progressive machines do cost a small fee. Overall, Bingo is a fun and exciting way to make friends and money. Whether you play with a traditional machine or use new technological advances and start to play bingo online, Bingo is a great way to spend a few free hours. Young and old can enjoy all of the games that a local Bingo hall has to offer.
