Hotels in Blackpool

By: saji

Blackpool is a medium-sized seaside town in northwestern England. It’s not the first city people think of, when they think of England. That’s usually London or Cambridge. With about 140,000 people, Blackpool is comparatively tiny. But as summer draws to a close, and autumn creeps upon England, Blackpool hotels fill with tourists. They come to see the Blackpool Illuminations, Blackpool’s main attraction since 1879.

Illuminations are always changing and evolving. They are sometimes called “artificial sunshine” because of this. Every year, the colors are different from the previous year. Lately, the emphasis has been energy efficiency and environmental awareness. Illuminations produces a calendar of events year-round, providing something for people of all ages.

Time is of the essence when booking a room at one of the many Blackpool hotels. Their peak season is during the Illuminations, starting at the end of August and running through the first part of November. Hotels are often completely booked at this time, especially the family hotels, so get those reservations in early.

Hotels in Blackpool offer a wide variety of rooms. You can choose from a five star rental apartment or a full service luxury hotel. Other choices include budget hotels that are very affordable, or family owned bed and breakfast Blackpool hotels.

There is more to Blackpool than just Illuminations. It also has lots of top dining establishments and one of the most extensive theater seasons in the country- there are musical and theatrical performances and everything else in between; it is also a venue on many concert tours. It also has traditional family-themed entertainment, including a zoological park, and quite a few spectacularly tall climbing walls, bigger than any in the United Kingdom. Don’t forget, there’s lost of beautiful sandy beaches to visit too.

Once again, if you and your family are planning a stay in Blackpool during the Illuminations, it’s best to book a room early to ensure your best price and choice of accommodations. And while you’re there, be sure to sample some of local culture as there’s more to see and do than just the illuminations. Count on it being a good time.
