Liposuction And Why You Need To Be Informed

By: Ras Reed

Liposuction as we have it today was propelled by the French surgeon Dr Yues-Gerard Illouz in 1982. Dr. Yues-Gerard Illouz came up with a suction assisted means of liposuction that involved the use of a blunt cannula and a high vacuum suction. Liposuction in modern times is the result of building on the precepts of Dr Illouz methods which set the pace for liposuction in the 1980’s.

Liposuction can be combined with plastic surgery to produce stunning results. You may go for a liposuction operation on your thighs and at the same time, have a plastic surgery done on your nose. It is not uncommon to find a breast lift and a liposuction procedure being done on the same person.

The most you can spend on a typical liposuction procedure is five hundred dollars on facility and testing fees. When you are paying the fees for a liposuction procedure, you will pay for pain medication, a blood test and compression garments. On the average, the most you can pay for a liposuction surgery is two thousand dollars.

Liposuction is a type of surgery that is not covered by health insurance. This is because it is termed as a cosmetic surgery. It can only be covered by health insurance when it is carried out for health reasons. Generally patients who undergo the removal of lipomas enjoy this benefit.

With the inception of advanced technology, the act of removing fat from the body has been improved. Presently there are many techniques of getting rid of excess fat. There is the tumescent technique, ultrasound technique etc.

One part of the body that can be treated through liposuction is the lower back. This part accumulates the type of fat called lumbo-sacral fat. The fat can be removed without trace.

Prior to a liposuction surgery, you will have to undergo a consultation session with your selected liposuction surgeon. The essence of a consultation with your surgeon before liposuction is to determine what your expectations are and if you are physically and emotionally fit enough to withstand liposuction. If you truly want your liposuction surgery to be a success, you should endeavor to answer your surgeon’s questions as honestly as possible.

Find out whether your insurance company will cover the cost of your liposuction surgery or not. Most insurance suppliers are clear about their standpoint on liposuction as they see it as cosmetic surgery and usually exclude it from their packages. You may be lucky to have your liposuction surgery paid for by your insurance company if it warrants it.
